1. Who we are

DataShift Tools (“we”, “us”) operates this website. For the purposes of the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we are the data controller for the limited data described below. You can reach us at contact@datashifttools.com.

2. Files you convert stay on your device

All file conversion runs locally in your browser using native browser APIs such as Canvas, FileReader and Web Workers. Your files are never uploaded to, stored on, or processed by our servers. We cannot access, view or recover the contents of your files.

3. No accounts

We do not require an account and do not sell your personal information. We do measure aggregate traffic with a cookieless analytics service, described in section 7. This site is also supported by advertising, which involves third-party cookies as described below.

4. Advertising and third-party cookies

We display ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. These third-party cookies may collect data such as your IP address, device and browser information, and browsing activity. We do not control these cookies. Where required by law (for example in the EEA, UK and Switzerland), we ask for your consent before setting non-essential advertising cookies, using a Google-certified consent management platform (CMP) together with Google Consent Mode.

5. Your choices and how to opt out

You can manage or withdraw your consent at any time via the consent dialog, or by adjusting your browser settings to block cookies. You can also opt out of personalised advertising using Google Ads Settings or optout.aboutads.info.

6. Server logs and hosting

This site is hosted on Vercel. Like most hosting providers, Vercel may automatically process technical data such as your IP address, user-agent, requested URL and timestamp in server logs for the purposes of delivering the site, security and abuse prevention. This processing is based on our legitimate interest in operating a secure and reliable service. Vercel acts as our data processor; more information is available in Vercel’s privacy documentation. Log data is retained only as long as necessary for these purposes.

7. Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand which tools people actually use and where they arrive from. It is a privacy-friendly, cookieless service: it sets no cookies, uses no localStorage, assigns you no persistent identifier, and does not track you across other websites.

For each page view it collects:

• the page path (for example /tools/heic-to-jpg/) and the referring site;
• approximate location — country, region and city — derived from your IP address;
• device type, browser, operating system and screen size.

Your IP address is processed only to derive that approximate location and is not stored or made available to us. We see aggregated counts only, never individual visitors, and we cannot identify you or link a page view back to you. Analytics never includes the contents of the files you convert — those never leave your device (section 2).

Vercel Inc. acts as our data processor for this service. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding and improving a free service, balanced against the fact that the data is aggregated and cookieless. Because no cookies or similar technologies are stored on your device, this measurement does not require consent under the ePrivacy Directive. To opt out, block requests to /_vercel/insights/ on this domain with an ad blocker or your browser’s privacy settings. No other part of the site is affected.

Separately, our advertising partners (Google) may collect data as described in section 4.

8. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. To exercise any right, contact us at contact@datashifttools.com.

10. Children’s privacy

This service is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
